Editorial Policies

This section offers guidance and resources to assist our Editors in their roles. Browse our journals for information about specific journal Editorial Boards, editorial models, and editorial processes.

Editors’ Roles and Responsibilities

Academic Editors at The Ibn Sina Sirte Medical Journal assess the scope and quality of each submitted manuscript and make a recommendation based on feedback from peer reviewers. Editorial Boards are collectively responsible for ensuring that the journal publishes high-quality research.

Handling Manuscripts

Academic Editors are responsible for deciding whether a manuscript should be published. Manuscripts are handled using AISRP’s online system. Editors receive an email when they are invited to handle a new manuscript.

Receiving a Manuscript

Our team assigns manuscripts based on an Editor’s field of study and current workload. Editors should be comfortable with the topic, but in-depth understanding is not essential. If an Editor finds a manuscript too far from their expertise, they should decline to handle it.

Conflicts of Interest

As a member of the Editorial Board, you need to be aware of conflicts. If you have recently coauthored with the author(s) or shared an affiliation, it could be inappropriate for you to handle their work.

Initial Evaluation

Research published in our journals must be:

  • Scientifically valid: Adhering to accepted community standards.
  • Technically accurate: In methods and results.
  • Reproducible: Sharing underlying data wherever able.
  • Ethically sound: Adhering to best practice with animal and human studies.

Making a Decision

Reviewers provide reports with recommendations: Publish Unaltered, Consider Minor Changes, Consider Major Changes, or Reject. Published manuscripts must be technically sound. Concerns over validity should result in rejection.
